Where advocacy meets service quality

This year, Help was a finalist in the Media Award category for its support of the “A Few Good Men” podcast and in the Excellence in Service Quality category for its significant contributions to supporting people with disabilities (PWD).

‘A Few Good Men’, created by Murray Jones, a devoted father of a child with autism, features heartfelt conversations between men raising children with disabilities. The podcast provides a platform for fathers to share their stories, exploring the challenging and unexpected journeys they’ve experienced and how raising these remarkable children has transformed their lives.

Building a community for fathers of children with disability

Murray’s personal journey inspired him to reach out to other men in similar situations, ensuring they feel supported and understood. Sponsored and produced by Help in collaboration with Welcome Change Media, the podcast has featured eight guests so far, including Buddha Barnes, a father of five children living with disabilities and the star of the documentary film Because We Have Each Other.

Help was also recognised for its positive organisational culture, collaborative approaches, leadership and governance, and its initiatives to prevent abuse through the Excellence in Service Quality award. This award acknowledges organisations that demonstrate exceptional standards in delivering services to people with disabilities.

Help’s mission in the spotlight

David Avery, Help’s Chief Operations Officer, expressed his delight at the nominations: “Our mission has always been to create a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive. These nominations highlight the hard work and dedication of our team and the impact we strive to make every day,” he said.
